About North Chicago Housing Authority

Established in 1976, the North Chicago Housing Authority has shown and will continue to show determination in meeting the needs of our community.

Our Public Housing program currently manages two low-income high-rise buildings that consist of 150 apartments for elderly/disabled families.

Our Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program administers 471 vouchers. We also operate three other programs in collaboration with other agencies within the community. Those programs consist of Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH), Family Unification Program (FUP), and the Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS), program.

We strive to be on the cutting edge for small housing authorities nationwide. We are committed to assisting low and moderate-income families with affordable housing opportunities in vibrant neighborhoods as they strive to achieve self-sufficiency and improve the quality of their lives.

The North Chicago Housing Authority also has started a non- profit 501 (C) (3) corporation. The Self-Sufficiency Development Corporation (SSDC) will not only add to the portfolio of the agency but will also help families become self-sufficient with the dream of homeownership. We have purchased four units thus far which house twelve families throughout Lake County. We are compelled to promote growth within our community as well as within Lake County.
